Directors Pld Infant Seat |
Average rating: |
 | Loved it, would buy it again | As infant seats go, this one is a winner. I am sincerely surprised by some of the negative reviews. It is a little cumbersome to install, but what carseat isn't?? Don't be afraid to roll up a towel and put it under the base to get it at the right level (reclining for an infant.) The seat was easy to get my son in and out of, and easy to pull out of the base. (It did stick a couple of times, but only if something was caught between the seat and the base, such as a blanket.) The padding was great and seemed comfortable for my son and it's very lightweight. We bought a second base for my husband's truck, and it worked very well there too. My son just graduated to a convertible seat, and I will miss this carseat a lot. Also Evenflo's instructions for installation were a breeze to read. One word of advice for anyone installing any car seat, find a certified inspector for safety seats in your area, and have them show you how to install the seat safely. The DMV may have information, the health department, local law enforcement and fire departments. It's usually free. It is estimated that up to 80 percent of children are at risk, because of poorly installed car seats and restraints that are not snug enough. It is NOT worth the risk. |
| Directors Pld Infant Seat - | | Great seat if you use the base | | My mother found this seat and bought it for the birth of my fourth child. I love the handle on this seat because it is easier to carry, the Snugride has a regular handle which gets harder to use when they get heavier. The only dissapointing factor to this seat is when you go somewhere and don't take your car. When you can't use the base that comes with the seat you are forced to use the seatbelt and the belt path happens to run right underneath your childs bottom. To me this was the one thing that I found dissapointing. My daughter weighs nine pounds, which is not alot, and on top of that having to get your hand underneath her, the cover and through the small opening it just doesn't work, it is impossible for my husband to use this way. Bottom line it is a great seat with a great matching stroller, just get a spare base. |
| - Directors Pld Infant Seat | | Overall Good Carrier | | After being induced 4 weeks early and in the hospital with no way to carry our baby home, our in-laws did some research and found this carrier to take our new bundle home in. We wanted the "s" shaped comfort handle and an easy base to get the carrier in and out of. This carrier has both. We also requested a 5 point harness, which this carrier also offers. We were more than pleased with the pattern and feel of the seat. And, the headrest it came with worked great for our 5 pound preemie. For a while I found the canopy impossible to use and pretty much worthless. I recently bought the Evenflo Comfort Dimensions stroller and thought I'd give the canopy another try when taking Noah on a walk. I realized I had not been putting the canopy on correctly. Now it works great. In fact, I often wonder if that isn't the problem with many poor reviews for different products. Maybe it is just not being used properly. Complaints: None really. It seemed like the seat was too upright when in my Jeep in it's base and the baby kept falling over. But, in retrospect, I realize that the seats of my Jeep Cherokee really slant toward the back of the seat which pushes the base up. And, I spoke with all of my friends about this and all of their babies had the same problem in different seats. So, overall, a great carrier. I feel completely safe with Noah in this seat. He is now 5 months old and close to growing out of it due to length, but we will use it as long as we can. Happy Hunting! Dana, Mommy of [new baby] - 5 months |
